2005 Pinnacle Awards Winners
The Pinnacle Awards honor individuals and companies in the technology and service areas, and represent the sectors of high tech, biotech, healthcare, law, accounting, financial services and marketing. In addition, a special Educator Pinnacle Award was given to an educator (K-12) who has demonstrated leadership in developing the next generation of women for a career in math or science. Ten years after moving to the United States, Magda Marquet co-founded Althea Technologies with the mission of creating safer and better drugs by providing contract services and innovative technologies to the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. Currently at Althea, women represent 60 percent of total employees and hold a higher percentage of manager or director-level positions than men.
In 2005, Marquet received the "Best Companies to Work For" award from the San Diego Business Journal. A mother of two teenage sons, Marquet initiated the "Science is Fun" club at the Gillispie School in La Jolla.
