Pictured
in this image is a key hallway in the cGMP Biologics Manufacturing area of
the facility. This section of Althea’s commercial-scale facility is completely
segregated from the cGMP fill/finish area and is approximately 10,000 sq.
ft.
In
this image you can see the dedicated glasswash suite through the window in
the Biologics Area of the facility. Althea’s facilities are designed from
the ground up with input from leading industry consultants, former FDA inspectors,
and our clients. Each facility allows for man-in-the-plan tours through strategically
placed viewing windows or closed-circuit televisions.
Pictured
here is Althea’s ABEC 1000L fermentor located in the largest fermentation
suite of Althea. The suite will also house 1,000L and 2,000L refolding tanks
along with a variety of purification skids. This fermentor can also support
recombinant protein and plasmid DNA high-cell density production methods of
up to 1g per liter. Additionally, Althea supports shake flask, 30L, and 100L
fermentation scales.
Looking
through the front of the ABEC 1000L fermentor one of Althea’s skilled operators
is visible while he works to bring the new equipment online. This fermentor
was custom built for Althea, like the rest of the facility. Althea, besides
offering fermentation, offers the full range of fermentation services including
production of the Master and Working Cell Banks.
Pictured
in this image is Fermentation Suite II, which houses Althea’s new 100L ABEC
fermentation equipment. This picture captures the newness of the facility,
the floors, walls, ceilings, electrical and water systems are all new. Before
construction the entire facility was striped down to only the supporting walls,
even the roof was rebuilt to support Althea’s massive air handling units.
