5.20.2008 Althea Technologies Celebrates Ten Years of Building Innovation with Charity Connection

SAN DIEGO – May 20, 2008 -- Althea Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of innovative technologies and services for pharmaceutical development and manufacturing, announced the company’s tenth anniversary. Althea Technologies began operation in April of 1998 with a focus on producing purified DNA in three small labs at a biotech incubator facility; today the company occupies three buildings with over 150 employees on its San Diego campus and is the region’s leading biopharmaceutical contract manufacturing firm.

To kick off the anniversary celebration and to give back to the local community, Althea has created a unique event coined “Althea’s Charity Connection.” This event will connect individuals with charitable organizations in an exhibition setting on Althea’s San Diego campus. The event, scheduled for May 21, 2008 at 10am – 2pm, will showcase over 25 local and national charities from the American Red Cross to Voices for Children (full list follows).

Also as part of the 10th anniversary celebration, Althea will be announcing several new programs including the “MyAlthea” initiative at the BIO 2008 Convention in San Diego. This program makes it easier for innovative startup companies to bring their therapeutic product to market faster by offering rapid manufacturing solutions, flexible contracts, and online program management tools.

The firm has received local and national honors for rapid growth, and for its workplace excellence and dedication to its employees. “It’s been ten years since François and I began this incredible journey and I couldn’t be more proud of the contributions that our employees have made both in furthering the development of some groundbreaking therapeutic products as well as their contributions in the community,” stated Dr. Magda Marquet, President and Co-CEO of Althea Technologies. “This year we are celebrating the impact that we, and our colleagues in the San Diego life sciences community, have made on this extraordinary industry and we look forward to continued growth and success.”
